This Christmas season, don’t be surprised if you see someone taking home a Christmas tree by bike. Hauling the Christmas tree home on a bicycle, especially an e-bike or cargo bike, has become an international trend. It’s more proof of the amazing adaptability and practicality of bicycles and electric bikes.
The #treebybike movement has been around for more than a decade, although this cover from a December 1942 issue of The New Yorker magazine shows the concept isn’t totally new. The #treebybike movement has grown increasingly popular year by year. Melissa and Chris Bruntlett, authors and urban mobility experts, are credited with popularizing the idea. The #treebybike hashtag is trending this month on social media services including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. On Instagram alone, there have been more than 500 posts recently using the #treebybike hashtag.
